Connected devices

Son Espace SantéBreederShelterBoarding

The app can connect via Bluetooth to sensors to enrich the data from your activities and measurements: a heart rate belt for heart rate, and a Tindeq Progressor dynamometer for your dog's pulling force in canicross or CaniVTT (bikejoring).

You register your devices once on the My devices screen, then find them again on every outing.

The Bluetooth connection only works in the mobile app (iPhone or Android). On a computer, the My devices screen lists your devices but cannot add or connect to them. Data already recorded can be viewed anywhere.

Supported devices

Heart rate belt

A standard Bluetooth heart rate belt. With a Polar H10, the app also captures the ECG signal to make the rate more reliable.

Dynamometer (Tindeq Progressor)

Placed on the towline, it measures the force your animal exerts live, in kilos.

GPS collar

In Son Espace Santé, when GPS tracking is enabled on your account, your collars also appear in this list. See Setting up a GPS collar.

Opening "My devices"

  • From the menu, Tracking section, My devices entry.
  • Or from an activity's recording screen, My devices button.

In the Breeder, Shelter and Boarding apps, the menu entry appears alongside Heart rate, hidden by default: show it again from Customize the bar.

In a pro space, registered devices are shared between team members; for an individual, they are linked to their account.

Adding a device

  1. Switch on the device and keep it near the phone.
  2. In My devices, tap Add.
  3. Choose the type: Heart rate belt or Dynamometer (Tindeq Progressor).
  4. The app searches for the device. Allow Bluetooth if your phone asks.
  5. Give it a meaningful name (for example "Rex's belt") under Device name, then tap Save.

If nothing is found, the app shows "No device found": check that the device is switched on, nearby, and not already connected to another app.

Renaming or deleting a device

In the list, the pencil icon lets you rename it and the bin icon lets you delete it (after confirmation). A GPS collar, on the other hand, opens with a tap and is managed from its settings.

Using devices during an activity

Start recording an outing (Activities, Add, Record session: see Activities). The My devices section of the recording screen shows one card per device.

  • If you only have one belt, the app connects to it automatically; otherwise, tap the card of the belt to use. Tap again to disconnect it.
  • Each device's state is shown: Connected, Reconnecting… or Disconnected. If the signal is lost, the app tries to reconnect.
  • Heart rate (bpm) is shown to the left of the stopwatch, force (kg) to the right.
  • The Add a device button lets you register a new belt without leaving the screen.

With the heart rate belt

The app monitors how reliable the measurement is and warns you if the belt seems to be missing beats (rate probably underestimated), counting too many, or if readings are discarded as out of range: check the electrode contact.

With a Polar H10, the card also shows the Live ECG and the rate calculated from the signal; the raw signal is saved with the activity.

With the dynamometer

  • The dynamometer card only appears if you have registered one.
  • Before starting, tap Tare (zero reset) with the line slack, so the measured force starts from zero.
  • An empty battery icon means the dynamometer's battery is low.

What you get after the outing

In the activity's details, the chart overlays the following on the speed and elevation curves:

DeviceData shown
Heart rate beltCardio curve, average, maximum and minimum rate; ECG trace with a Polar H10.
DynamometerForce curve, average force and peak force.
Dynamometer and GPS trackPower curve (in watts), average power, 3-second peak, session load and power per kilo.
Belt and dynamometerCardiac cost: the beats spent per watt produced.

Power per kilo is calculated with the animal's last known weight on the date of the session: keep its weight tracking up to date.

Tip: Compare the cardiac cost from one session to the next: at equal power, a value that falls over the weeks shows your dog's fitness is improving.
Pulling power only measures what goes through the line, not the total energy the animal spends moving. Do not convert it into calories.

Measuring resting heart rate

The belt is also useful outside activities: the Heart rate screen offers a resting measurement with the belt, more accurate than counting by hand. See Heart rate.
