Sharing an animal

Son Espace SantéBreederShelterBoarding

Sharing gives another registered person access to your animals' profiles, while you remain the owner. It is useful for a partner, a family member, a pet sitter, your vet or your breeder.

You choose who, which animals, and whether the person can only view the information or also edit it.

Opening the sharing area

  • From the side menu: Management section, Shares entry.
  • In Son Espace Santé, also from an animal's profile: … button in the action bar, Owner, then The sharing space.

The screen has two tabs:

My shares

The access you have given to other people. Each card shows the access level, whether the pharmacy is shared and the number of animals concerned.

Shared with me

The access other people have given you to their animals.

Creating a share

  1. In the My shares tab, tap Add in the action bar.
  2. In Share with, tap Select a user and search for the person by name.
  3. Choose the Access rights: Read only or Read and write.
  4. If needed, turn on Share the pharmacy.
  5. Leave Share all my animals turned on, or turn it off to choose animals one by one in Animals to share.
  6. Tap Save.

The share is active immediately: the person has nothing to accept. They receive a notification telling them you have shared animals with them.

Can't find the person? To appear in search results, they must have turned on the I want to be visible in searches option in their profile (side menu, Profile, Preferences tab, Privacy and visibility section).

Access rights

OptionEffect
Read onlyThe person views the profiles of the shared animals without being able to edit them.
Read and writeThe person can also add to and edit the information of the shared animals.
Share the pharmacyThe person also has access to your pharmacy (see Pharmacy).
Share all my animalsThe share covers all your animals, including those you add later. When turned off, it only covers the animals chosen.

Editing or deleting a share

  1. In My shares, tap the share's card.
  2. Change the rights, the pharmacy or the list of animals, then tap Save.
  3. To remove access, tap Delete then confirm with Yes, delete it.

The person is notified when you update the share.

When animals are shared with you

Animals shared with you appear on the Pets page, Shared with me tab (the tab only appears if you have at least one share). The owner's name is shown on each card.

In the sharing area, Shared with me tab, tap a share to set your notifications:

  • Be notified when the animal's profile is changed: illnesses, operations…
  • Be notified when an event concerning the animal is added to the calendar, and show the event in my calendar.

Both options are turned on by default. Remember to tap Save. The bin icon lets you leave this share.

Sharing back

If someone shares their animals with you and you haven't shared anything with them, a banner offers Share back. Tapping it opens a new share already addressed to that person: handy for a couple or a family looking after the same animals.

Special cases

Your breeder

When a breeder hands over a puppy's or kitten's health record through the app, they keep read-only access to the animal. This share appears in My shares marked Your breeder — read-only access. You can revoke it at any time with Remove access, and recreate it later if you wish.

Foster family

When a shelter places an animal with you for fostering, it shares the animal with you with editing rights for the duration of the foster placement; access is removed when the placement ends (see Foster families).

In a professional organisation

In the Breeder, Shelter and Boarding apps, shares are made in the organisation's name. A team member only sees the sharing area if their rights allow it: read to view shares, write to create them (see Members and permissions). Otherwise, the message Your access rights do not allow you to view the shares. appears.

Tip: sharing an animal does not give it away. To permanently transfer an animal to a new owner, use the Owner entry on the profile (see Animal profile).
