Treatments and prescriptions
Antibiotics after a consultation, anti-inflammatories, a food supplement, a dewormer or a flea and tick treatment: the Treatments page brings together all your animal's care. You can enter a prescription medicine by medicine, and the app reminds you of each dose to give.
Getting to treatments
- Open the animal's profile (see The animal profile).
- In the Health block, tap Treatments. The row already shows the number of "ongoing" treatments.
The page shows:
- at the top, the animal's Doses to give today, when a detailed treatment is in progress;
- Current treatments, with their status and date;
- Past treatments, marked Success or Failed.
Adding a treatment
- Tap A treatment in the action bar.
- Check the Title, the Type and the Pets concerned (the same treatment can apply to several animals). If needed, choose the Veterinarian from your contacts.
- Choose the entry mode: Simple or Detailed (see below).
- Tap Save.
On a phone, Fill in the form by voice lets you dictate the treatment (animal, date, type…).
Simple mode
A date, a duration and a free-text Description of treatment. Ideal for one-off care or a treatment you don't want to detail.
Detailed mode
A list of Medications & schedule: each medicine has its dose, its dosing times and its duration. This is the mode that triggers dose reminders.
Importing a prescription
In Detailed mode, tap Import a prescription and take a photo of the vet's prescription. The app reads it and pre-fills one medicine per row for you, with the dosage (dose, times of day, frequency, duration, instructions). Check each row and fill in anything missing: nothing is made up if the prescription doesn't specify it.
Detailing a medicine
Tap Add a medication (or an existing row) to open its details:
| Field | Use |
|---|---|
| Medicine | The product name, for example "Rilexine 300mg". |
| Use stock | Picks the product from your pharmacy and removes one dose from stock each time a dose is given. |
| Dose and Unit | The amount to give at each dose (tablet, ml…). |
| Dosing times | Morning, Noon, Evening: tap them to turn them on. |
| Frequency | Every day, Every N days (with the interval in days) or Weekly (with the days of the week). |
| Start date and Duration | A duration in days from the suggested shortcuts, Other for any number of days, or Choose an end date. |
| Instructions | A useful detail: "on an empty stomach", "in the left ear"… |
Tap Save in the medicine's details, then Save to record the treatment.
Dose reminders
For a detailed treatment, the app schedules each dose and sends you a notification at the planned time. Tapping the notification opens the Medication reminders screen:
- the To give tab groups the doses into two sections, To give now and Later today, with the animal, the medicine, the dose, the time and the instructions;
- tap the green tick to mark the dose as Given, or the cross to mark it Skipped;
- the History tab keeps a record of each dose, with the name of the person who gave it when it wasn't you.
You also find today's doses at the top of the animal's Treatments page (Medications to give, Next dose, See treatment schedule) and as a shortcut on the home page.
Finishing a treatment
On an ongoing treatment, tap Finish. The app asks whether the treatment is complete and whether the animal is feeling better:
- The treatment is a success: it moves to past treatments, marked Success;
- The treatment failed: it moves to past treatments, marked Failed;
- The treatment is not complete: nothing changes.
Tap a treatment to edit it, or to delete it with the Delete button. For a treatment described in text, the Explanation link gives you a simple explanation of what was prescribed.
Parasite treatments and recurring care
Dewormer, flea and tick protection, nail trimming, tooth brushing, ear cleaning… This care comes round at regular intervals. It can be created in a few seconds from the Calendar and then appears in the animal's treatments.
A recurring treatment states how long until it must be repeated: when you close it, the next due date is created automatically after that interval. You don't have to think about it.
In the Son Espace Santé app, these reminders are offered as soon as you add your first dog or cat (see Adding an animal).
Frequently asked questions
I'm not receiving dose reminders.
Check that the treatment is entered in Detailed mode, with at least one dosing time, and that the app's notifications are allowed on your phone. See Alerts and tips.
Can I enter the treatment from the vet's report?
Yes: medicines can also be entered in the report of a vet appointment in the calendar. See Calendar and care.
