An animal's death and archiving

Son Espace SantéBreederShelterBoarding

When your companion passes away, or when you no longer look after it day to day, there is no need to delete its profile: you can record its death, or archive it so it no longer appears in the app's daily life, while keeping its history.

Getting to the page

  1. Open the animal's profile (see The animal profile).
  2. Tap the … button in the action bar.
  3. Choose Report death.

The same page lets you record the death and archive the animal. These two settings are independent: you can use one, the other or both.

Recording the death

  1. Turn on My pet died?.
  2. Enter the Date of death (required).
  3. Tap Save: you return to the profile.

What changes afterwards:

  • the word Deceased appears on the animal's photo, on its profile and in the list;
  • birthday notifications and vaccine booster alerts stop;
  • "incomplete profile" labels are no longer shown on its card;
  • its profile, its journal and its whole history can still be viewed.

Shelter

The animal's status at the shelter changes to "deceased" and an exit record is created. See Exit registers.

Breeder

The death of a kennel animal creates an exit record, visible in Departed animals. See Registers and transfers.

Tip: made a mistake? Go back to the page and turn off My pet died?, then save.

Archiving an animal: "No longer reference this animal in the app"

Archiving sets the animal aside without deleting anything. It is useful for an animal that died a long time ago, an animal given away or sold whose profile you are keeping, or an animal you no longer look after.

  1. Turn on No longer reference this animal in the app.
  2. Tap Save.
Once archived, the animal…Still available
no longer appears on the home pageits profile, accessible from the list of animals
is no longer offered in selection lists (calendar, journal, activities, invoices…)its journal and activities, read-only
no longer appears on your website or on your public pageits vaccines, treatments, documents and whole history
can no longer receive new journal entries or new activitiesthe option to re-enable it at any time

Automatic reminders (birthday, vaccines) are no longer sent for an archived animal. On its profile, a banner says "This animal is archived — content creation is disabled".

Re-enabling an archived animal

Open its profile from the list of animals and tap the "This animal is archived" banner (or go through the … menu then Report death). Turn off No longer reference this animal in the app and tap Save: everything goes back to how it was.

Departed animals (Breeder and Shelter)

BreederShelter

When an animal leaves your organisation (sale, adoption, transfer to another organisation or death), an exit record keeps its information, even if its new owner removes your access to its profile. To find it: Pets button in the button bar, then the … menu in the action bar and Departed animals.

The list can be filtered by year, by type of exit (Adopted or Sold, Transferred, Deceased) and by searching for the animal's or owner's name. For details of the exit record, see Exit registers (shelter) or Registers and transfers (breeder).

Tip: in the animal selection lists of the Breeder and Shelter apps, animals that have left (sold, adopted, transferred, archived or deceased) are grouped under a "Gone" or "Departed" filter, turned off by default: your lists stay short without losing their history.

Lost animal?

If your animal has gone missing, record neither death nor archiving: use Lost pet in the same … menu. See Lost animal.
