Puppy waiting list
Families ask you for a puppy long before the litter is born. The waiting list keeps their requests and criteria, then helps you notify matching families when a litter is born.
Requests arrive in two ways: through the "Waiting list" block on your website, or added by hand by you.
Accessing the waiting list
- Side menu, Management section, then Waiting list.
- Or Settings, My kennel block, Waiting list line.
- On the Homepage, the Waiting list block flags the week's new requests, families interested in a litter and stud requests.
Reading the list
At the top of the page, three counters: Active requests, those from this week and Interested families. Three filters then let you sort:
| Filter | Options |
|---|---|
| Status | Active, Interested, Reserved, Closed, Pending confirmation, All |
| Sex | Any sex, Male, Female |
| Source | All sources, Website, Manual entry, Stud request |
Each request shows the person, their contact details, the sex and breed wanted, the colours, the time frame and the region, as well as their message.
Adding a request by hand
- Tap Add in the action bar (or Add a request if the list is empty).
- Enter the First name, Last name, Email, Phone number and Region. At least a name or an email is required.
- Specify the Breed, the Sex wanted and the Colours wanted (separated by commas).
- Enter the suitable time frame with Not before and Not after, and a Message if needed.
- Save with the save button at the bottom right.
Handling a request
Under each request, the following buttons are offered to members who can edit the list:
- Call and Write open your phone or your email app;
- Edit corrects the criteria;
- Reserve asks you Which litter?, then opens the litter with a reservation already filled in (name, email, phone, message); once the reservation is saved, the request switches to Reserved;
- Close closes the request, Reopen reactivates it.
The form on your website
Add the "Waiting list" block to your website (see Public page and website): it is a call to action you can display all year round. You choose the title, an introduction text, the colours offered and whether to show the number of families waiting.
- The family fills in the form (contact details, sex, colour, time frame, message) and gives their consent.
- They receive a confirmation email in your kennel's name: one click confirms their request.
- The request then appears in your list. Until it is confirmed, it stays Pending confirmation; without confirmation within 7 days, it is deleted.
This double check prevents spam and wrong addresses: you only write to verified addresses.
Notifying families when a litter is born
- Open the litter page, then the Waiting list section (shown as long as the litter is not closed).
- The app lists matching requests: same species and same breed as the litter, sex compatible with the puppies still available, at least one colour in common when colours are entered, and a time frame that covers the planned departure (about 8 weeks after birth).
- Tap Notify the waiting list, tick the families to notify and add A word from you if you wish.
- Tap Send to N families.
Each family receives a personal email with a link to your page and an "I'm interested" button. A family already notified for this litter does not receive a second email. Requests switch to Notified, then to Interested when the family clicks, and you are informed.
Automatic closing
A request whose "Not after" date passed more than 60 days ago is closed automatically. The family receives an email allowing them to reactivate their request if they are still interested. Your list thus stays up to date effortlessly.
Frequently asked questions
What are "Stud requests"?
These are the requests sent from the "Request a mating" form of a stud shown on your website. They are not taken into account for litters. See Pedigree and studs.
Is a request without a colour criterion a match?
Yes: colour is only compared when it is entered both in the request and on the puppies.
